Overview[]

The farming profession is designed around the growing and harvesting of crops and breeding dinosaurs. Farmers have a special slaughtering skill that allows them to harvest more raw animal fat from phiomias than non-farmers. They are also able to cook two advanced meals along with the entrepreneur, that are not available to other professions.

Central to the profession, Farmers are able to make full and effective use of crop plots.

Both Farmers and Non-Farmers are able to place down crop plots, plant Seeds, fertilize and water crop plots, however farmers are the only profession that can properly harvest.

Non-farmers can:

  • Add ingredients to a Compost Bin and auto-craft Fertilizer. One limitation is the Lime Powder ingredient which is exclusive to the Farmer, however once obtained it can be put in the Compost Bin to craft Slag Fertilizer.
  • Place Crop Plots and Herb Plots, add Seed, add Fertilizer, add water, Rake and even Harvest, however the harvest amount is maybe 10% of what a Farmer can achieve. Example, a full Cultivated Cotton Plot for a Farmer would yield 50 (combination of about 24-34 Cotton, around 20 Plant Parts and 0-3 Cultivated Cotton Seed), vs. only 3 Cotton, 3 Plant Parts and 1 Cultivated Cotton Seed for any other profession.

Only Farmers can:

Dependencies

Farmer is currently the least dependent profession. There are plans in the future to expand and evolve Farmer, which will bring into the profession more reliance on and interaction with other professions. Virtually all players, let alone professions, are dependent on farmers, due to meals alone. Farmers are also able to sell their advanced fertilizers, which slightly decreases the dramatic inefficiencies of non-farmers growing crops.

Farmer's Table[]

The Farmer's Table is exclusive to the Farmer profession. Click the link for a full list of available engrams.

Breeding[]

Only Farmers can breed tamed dinosaurs.

When a male and female tame are placed close together, the female acquires a "Mating" option in her Radial menu.

Baby animals can eat directly from the Feeding Trough, so there's no need to put food in their inventory during any stage.

Imprinting tasks are available, however some tames don't give a stat increase. There is no rider buff.

Gaining XP as a Farmer[]

Farmers are one of the slowest professions to level up. They don’t have any advanced items that give decent XP from crafting, however they do have other ways that other professions don’t have access to.

Tips for all professions:

  • Be sure to equip a full set of Burlap for the “well dressed” bonus.
  • Eat a nice meal for the “well fed” bonus.
  • Eat Dried Psilocybin Mushrooms to gain a 40% XP bonus for 5 minutes!

Ways for Farmers to gain the highest XP:

Using a Plow to Maintain Crop Plots is a great way to gain XP. The more plots you have, the more you can gain. However, you only gain based on their poor level of maintenance. Eg if all your Crop Plots are ‘Overgrown’ with weeds, you’ll gain a lot more XP compared to if they were only at ‘Well Kept’. When Crop Plots are at ‘Overgrown’ the first use of the Plow will get them to ‘Well Kept’ stage, but there’s multiple ‘Well Kept’ stages, so you can Plow once more to improve their well-being a bit more. This is also evident from manually using the Small Wooden Rake.”, as it will let you Rake multiple times in ‘Well Kept’ status before the ‘Rake’ option removes from the Radial menu. An example from Plowing the first time is 38.4K XP, and 19.5K XP on the second Plow.

Plowing a large area of Overgrown Crop Plots twice could get you around 40K XP, however you have to wait a while before it gets overgrown again.

Planting Seed also gives a good amount of XP, however being able to repeatedly do this would require a lot of time and effort. Each Seed planted can give around 300 XP. Currently it is possible to plant a seed, harvest it immediately and get the seed back!

Farmers have the ‘Slaughter’ ability. Mass breeding high level Ovis and bringing them to adult is a viable solution. Be sure to level them up first, and put all their points into health (higher health = higher yields = more XP). You can then select ‘Slaughter’ from the Radial menu, and harvest them with a Hatchet. Not only do you get a ton of Mutton, Hide, Small Bone and Wool, but you could potentially get 15K XP per Ovis harvested

Other than the above unique Farmer Profession methods, the next best thing for gaining XP is to kill things like the T-Rex and wild Ovis, then harvesting them.
